Opening Ceremony: Missed but not Forgotten
Last week, Opening Ceremony, a cult brand started in 2002, announced they were closing all their stores by the end of 2020. Though the announcement doesn't directly relate to the content the class is focusing on this week, the innovation and unapologetic creativity of Opening Ceremony was something I always admired. They were not afraid to push the boundaries of fashion and go against the grain, which I hope we can all one day do with our designs as well.
The image above is from Opening Ceremony's Spring/Summer '19 Drag Show in which they used the clothing conventions but flipped many aspects of traditional clothing as well as traditional identity to create a collection and an aesthetic that was wild and amazing. Opening Ceremony will be missed but not forgotten!
