CV DAZZLE

I was reading through artblog when I scrolled past an article called "Adam Harvey and The Anti-Face." The article was about artist Adam Harvey's project called "CV dazzle," which seeks to "explore how fashion can be used as camouflage from face-detection technology."

What drew my eye to this project first was the way Harvey was able to use simple, black & white shapes and figures to trick state-of-the-art technology. The shapes on the face in the photo to the right essentially "archives" the bone structure on the person's face and creates an "anti-face." As I read more about the project, I was also struck by the interdisciplinary nature of art: the way Harvey conducts "experiments" to test whether his work has passed the test of duping facial detection feels almost like a research experiment to me -- one that can have significant implications for tech/AI companies, and even government security and privacy organizations.
